Another MegaCorp man climbs the leaderboard!!
I’ll be honest.
You really need to like golf to be watching the 3M this
week. While it is important for players looking to get into the FedExCup, it is
rather…..boring.
I love golf. I hope you like golf. Let's try not to fall asleep.
There is some great golf happening in the ole 3M though. The cut line is -3! The cut!
Looks like we might see some more MegaCorp this weekend.
JT Poston climbed the leaderboard on Friday to finish -10, shooting consecutive rounds of 66. MegaCorp's man will no doubt channel his MegaCorp magic with the hope of winning the 3M Open and raising up the ranks to sail into the FedExCup Playoffs. 2 MegaCorp golfers in the playoffs!? Oh, mama! Maybe I'll call them again...
The betting favorite, Ludvig Aberg recovered nicely from an opening round 72 with a 64 on Friday. He should be in contention come the final round.
Then there was.....
Justin Thomas, who has lost his putter. He went to a new putter for this tournament to try to reclaim some comfort on the greens, but the counterbalanced putter was not the ticket on Thursday or Friday. His struggles led commentators to talk (Thursday on PGA Tour live coverage) about him letting go of his caddie or coach. Well, his coach is living legend Jim 'Bones' McKay and his coach is his dad. Are we just filling the airwaves with such a question? Creating a modern-day bs storyline? Anyway... JT's chances of making the FedExCup playoffs are pretty slim. Not only did the putter let him down, but by Friday he was spraying his approaches. 3 birdies in a row on his back 9 gave hope to him hanging around the weekend, but his -2 finish left him outside the cut line. JT will be fine. Everyone calm down.
Cliffnotes of JT's dayThr group everyone was talking about was Erik Van Rooyen, Ryan Moore, and Alex Gaugert. So you might know that Gaugert is Van Rooyen's caddie, they go back to college when they golfed for Minnesota. Gauger was a Monday qualifier. He enlisted his brother to carry his bag, his brother usually caddies for Ryan Moore...and they were all in the same group. Both Gaugert and Moore missed the cut. At least Gaguert was comfortable.
Sneakers, and not tied. Maybe flip-flops next time.Maybe you noticed Sepp Straka's caddie. It is Duane Bock, usually Kevin Kisner's looper, but Kiz is probably done for the rest of the year. Big Sepp and Duane won the John Deere Classic when they first worked together and finished T2 at the Open. Back down to the earth for these two as Sepp missed the cut. But why is Kiz not playing the rest of the year? Let him explain.
We're beard enthusiasts at Bogey Bogey Start since face foliage is not too prevalent on Tour, let us catch you up. Billy Horschel flashing some beard.
Both the first and second rounds were suspended before finishing due to inclement weather. Love summer! So, if I'm wrong about where anyone finishes their second round...sue me.
HEY! Bogey Bogey Start is on Instagram. Please look for us as some swag will start to drop in the near (ish) future. I'm a Ludite otherwise I'd have a link for the Gram and all the things but please give a follow. Sweet dreams this weekend! Until next time!
