Sedgefield has teeth and is chewing up hopes

  The Friday Cut:

The bubble has burst for some hoping to make the FedExCup Playoffs, but mostly it has NOT burst for most players we know. Look at Billy Horschel!! -8 in the 2nd round!! Stone cold man! We have Lucas Glover coming out of nowhere trying to make the cut. It seems like he needs a win and some luck though to get into the playoffs. Russel Henley is looking to get into the 10 top. That would make him ALOT of extra money! Brendon Todd, Gary Woodman, Justin Thomas, Matt Wallace, Adam Scott, and Shane Lowry made the cut on Friday and are looking to make this weekend pretty wild.

Not everyone has been happy with Sedgefield Country Club this week. Matt Wallace finished on the leaderboard yesterday but had some very honest opinions about the course. When asked about his round Wallace said..

"I don't like this course"

"...It's not fun to play"

"Like, it's just not great"

And that's a guy who had a good round! I personally love when golfers are honest and emotional. Golf is often too stiff and needs these guys (usually English guys...usually Tyrrell Hatton) to be honest and emotional. It shows they're actually human.

After watching yesterday and today I have to agree that there were many ok to good shots that ended up in terrible spots. Particularly the 16th, par 3 was awful to watch today. Unfortunate balls in divots and falloffs like crazy were just the norm today. In his second round at the 15th hole, Hideki Matsuyama needed 3 shots to get out of the greenside bunker. He double-bogeyed and missed the cut. He currently sits at 56 in the FedExCup standings.

This course is tough on a good day and with soaking wet Bermuda rough it's very difficult. The guys that played their way in are more than deserving for getting into the FedExCup Playoffs and for those that fell out of the top 70 this week, I think we can all feel for them. What a way to go.

Over the past several weeks I've been liking Peter Kuest, who made a Monday qualifier in Rocket Mortgage and played to a T4 finish, and got an exemption to the John Deere.. he's played his way this far into the season and this is the last we'll see Kuest until next season but the dude had a great run and just a guy to keep an eye on in the future.

This weekend should be good. Hopefully, the rain stays away on Saturday and Sunday, and the holes are cut in good spots. We've got a lot of guys to keep an eye on this weekend and for those keeping the records, should be a crazy weekend.
