Who the hell is Lee Hodges!?

Image
Lee Hodges..holy moly! I have to come clean here, I don't think I had ever really heard of Lee Hodges. This guy crushed the 3M Open! He looked so unflappable. Was it boring? Hell yes, it was. Did I watch? Not as much as I should have now that I stepped onto this plank. Per my last post... it's a bit of a snooze, yet we persist. I mentioned last time that rounds had not finished upon my posting and the results as of my writing may not reflect what the leaderboard ended up looking like after the 2nd round was finished. Sometime after I posted that I saw Lee Hodges went off!! Like brutalizing TPC Twin Cities and the field. Nuts stuff. In realizing that my references might be dated I am going to keep on leaning in.  Lee Hodges is 26th in driving accuracy and 8th in distance..aka he's a piper! How did I or you not know about this dude!? I'm not saying you weren't aware of him, but I'm totally saying you weren't aware of him.  One thing that I do hope that these ...

Another MegaCorp man climbs the leaderboard!!

I’ll be honest. You really need to like golf to be watching the 3M this week. While it is important for players looking to get into the FedExCup, it is rather…..boring. I love golf. I hope you like golf. Let's try not to fall asleep. There is some great golf happening in the ole 3M though. The cut line is -3! The cut!  Looks like we might see some more MegaCorp this weekend.  JT Poston climbed the leaderboard on Friday to finish -10, shooting consecutive rounds of 66. MegaCorp's man will no doubt channel his MegaCorp magic with the hope of winning the 3M Open and raising up the ranks to sail into the FedExCup Playoffs. 2 MegaCorp golfers in the playoffs!? Oh, mama! Maybe I'll call them again... The betting favorite, Ludvig Aberg recovered nicely from an opening round 72 with a 64 on Friday. He should be in contention come the final round.  Then there was..... Justin Thomas, who has lost his putter. He went to a new putter for this tournament to try to reclaim some ...

Big Weekend for the Lefties

Brian (I have written Brain so many times. I hope he does not win for a while) Harman grabbed headlines with his dominant performance at the Open Championship. There was also another tournament happening in Truckee, California. The Reno-Tahoe Open or as it is now called, the Barracuda Championship was a hard-fought victory for Akshay Bhatia.  Bhatia who is only 21, turned pro when he was 17. What were you doing when you were 17? He came into golf fans hearts this spring with his daring tactics at the Honda Classic in February. You may remember Bhatia stripping down to just his pants not once, but twice in the final round. To an extent each of us amateurs can empathize with a wayward shot followed by a slap out of the mud. What we cannot get is what Bhatia got after his first smattering of mud. His girlfriend Presleigh brought him a change of clothes. He changed in a porta potty. What a guy! What a woman! Then seven holes later it happened again... His play this year has been...

2023 Open Championship, Brian Harman waggles his way to Claret Jug

The weekend was drama free. Royal Liverpool was gettable, the wind was, generally down, and for 3 of 4 rounds, the sun was felt. The winning score was short of many predictions, and when the final putt dropped it can be said the tournament was not competitive. Even after sinking a par putt to win The Open Championship winner, Brian Harman was reservedly excited. His excitement was akin to eating a good sandwich, not being the freakin Champion Golfer of the Year. Brian Harman rose into contention in the 2nd round and dominated the 3rd and 4th rounds with precise play from the tee box and fairways and with a steady putting stroke leading to the first Major Championship of his career. All of this great play was executed with a curious sponsor donning his hat. MegaCorp. MegaCorp or MegaCorp Logistics is a Wilmington, North Carolina-based transportation company. I called the 24/7/365 phone number to get a feeling on how the company is reacting to their Champion Golfer. BBS: "I'm Br...
